Fish mount question

If you were getting a speared fish mounted would you leave the spear marks on the fish?

I'm getting a fish mounted and trying to figure out if I should have the marks touched up or leave them there.

Me personally would leave the marks to show where I hit the beast... But thats just me...

I just brought my 17 pounder to the taxi yesterday and I am having the holes fixed. I guess its personal preference, but I want any fish regardless of how I got it to look the way it did before it came out of the water.

depends how you are doing the mount. I had mine done but it is in a spearing scene with the spear still in the fish. something I thought of and the taxidermist didnt think it would work but between the 2 of us we pulled it off.

I personally would leave the spearmarks as a reminder and it will alway start a conversation when its looked at.

most if not all taxidermists can hide.fix ,cover up and make it look like they were never even there thou.

I like the fact you left the tail as is too, instead of having it fixed. The character is more important than appearance, I think.

Looks even sweeter in person, maybe someday ill have something like that, if I ever get one I'm making a table mount where it has the decoy in its mouth should be cool just need the hogg to do it...

Heck of a mount there elwood! I really do get pleasure seeing such unique mounts as yours. Nothing against the mounts hangn on a piece of driftwood against the wall, but yours is a much better reflection of the moment!
