Any difference in the reception, or performance of the internal vs external antenna units?

I have never trusted internals so I would get the external and set it in a clear area so you know you will get reception. Thats just me though. Theres a lot of guys who have had good luck with internals.

I have had good luck on my Lowrance 522c with an internal. Never an issue.

My new Birds will have the external.

I don't know if there is a difference in performance with these particular units. I've used other units with internal atennas that just didn't cut the mustard.

The HB GPS/Chartplotter I have uses an external atenna. It's real small and ya can barely even know it's there. If it were me I'd go external, but that's just me.

The one thing i considered was where i was going to be mounting the power head.. For me i was mounting it in a coverd compartment. this left me with two options,, 1 buy the ram systen to get it out and have a clear shot for the gps.. I chose the second option of going with an exturnal unit,, little more work to mount and run the wires,, but better for for mystyle..

Another thing a thought of is buying another mount so I can use it on the bow too. That would pretty much require me to get the internal, correct?
