Frame for a wheel house

Recommended Posts

Am developing a plan and gathering materials to build myself a shack in the off season and am looking for guidance on what to build the shack on. I would like to make it a wheel house, where would I get the frame? How much am I looking at for it? If not a wheel house, what other suggestions for hauling the shack around?

Thank you for your expertise & guidance.

I guess now adaays wheel houses are the way to go. I mean as portability goes.

the price depends on what kind and from who you get it from.

but in my experience a good rule of thumb is typically $100.00 a linaer ft so 12ft long 1200 bucks thats what I used to use as a rule of thumb. becareful and do alot of shopping around for frames and check on or estimate your weight of the fishhouse as to know if you will need to have brakes on it and what the best axel should be.

hope this helps a bit

Brakes are required for trailers with a gross weight of 3000 lbs and over. Also, if your completed fish house weighs less than 3000 lbs, but has the capability of going over 3000 lbs (heavy duty tires, axles, springs) you need brakes by law. Hwy patrol could give you a ticket if they wanted to is all...

Below 3000 lbs you can buy a life time license, sticker on the tongue. Over, it's a yearly and a plate.

My brother just bought a trailer from "Miltona Blacksmith". One of the best made trailers i've ever seen. Price wise it is one of the cheapest you'll find. His is 8'6" x 14' with a 3'V. Only paid around 1400. That comes with winches, tires, drop tounge. Pretty reasonable in my opinion.
