0 fishwater
Dozer, you can do that. Folks run the lazer hand bits on the ice gator, can't imagine a gas powerhead providing too much torque for the hand bit if the gator doesn't. Ice Gator sells a hand auger adapter that is pretty long to make the hand bits more useful too.
0 jwhjr
The blades are different, the power ones have notches in them and the hand ones are smooth. Not saying it won't work, but the blades are different.
0 MNice
They (SM)say not to, but if you could make an adapter it would work. May not last because of the extra torque, but it would work.
0 McGurk
I had an adapter made to put a 5" auger on a powerhead for winter pond surveying. Not recommended, but it works. Get a 12" extension to make it more manageable, too.
0 Jae
slow start the hole as the hand sm dont have a center pin and the bit could hop and turn ur foot into ground chuck

0 Gus
lasers are very sensitive to blade pitch. I would be worried about the hand auger not being beefy enough and bending accidentally under the torque just enough to screw up cutting. The hand augers are spendy enough already, I wouldn't want to chance that. Just my thoughts though.

0 Gus
Yes, very much so. It also has some bracing to help keep blade pitch from getting off as well as a point to help drill straight down or eliminate hole wobbling.

I agree, without the aid of the center point to keep the auger in check...it can get very squirrely quicker than you can react. Had a friend darn near take his toe completely off that way after the auger cut his boot through..so be cautious.
