we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Rick Posted January 25, 2010 we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Share Posted January 25, 2010 We as a country might even need more emphasis on sports at the lower levels. As a nation we're not as fit as we used to be and the emphasis on youth sports isn't what it used to be. Not even close to when I was a kid. james_walleye
Outside of my wife and kids, I live for hunting, fishing, and the vikings. Call me pathetic if you want, but much like hunting and fishing, the vikings are a bit of a "relief" for me. Dont get me wrong, given the option i'll take a day in my boat or treestand over a day on the couch watching the purple. My son enjoys football and we have gotten into collecting football cards, especially viking cards. I was not mad or angry at the outcome of the game. Simply disappointed because i've never seen the vikings play in a superbowl. Whether or not the players care about myself or the state of MN is no matter to me, i enjoy them. Scott M
Good food for thought here. I was way more crushed in 98 back when I wasn't even old enough to drive. I know better now...not that I have to worry about my team blowing it, but that there are way more important things in life. No mopiness. A bunch of Red Bulls came back from Iraq yesterday. Haiti is in shambles, the personal checkbook is kind of tight. There are other things to get worked up over. I guess I'm glad fantasy football came along. Whether the Vikes are good or not, I have a chance to field a decent team, follow the NFL, take stabs at who will win what games, etc. James, I can't fault you for being a diehard rube. There is an admirable quality to those that are truly that dedicated. I read this great poem or narrative a few years back about sports fans, I'll see if I can dig it up. Coach1310
The fact of the matter is, over time, we all become emotionally attached to things even without trying to hard... taking family, friends, loved etc. out of it... it is kind of like your first gun, your favorite fishing rod, your favorite fishing spot etc. etc... The longer it is a part of your life, the more it hurts when it dissapoints you!! The older you get, the faster you move on, but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt!
