I've been ice fishing for twenty plus years now, made lots of memories, but the one thing from my early years I will never forget is my grandpa, slicing his hand between his thumb and index fingure! Right down to white! (bone or tendan, I'm not sure) It was on a home-made electric ice auger with one of those scoop blades. Of course it was also a home-made blade cover, a custom fit MILK JUG! He hadn't even drilled a hole yet. After a lot of blood and some assesment, he decided we'd better get fishing! He spent the rest of the night fishing with his blood soaked, hanky wrapped hand in the air. It looked like there was a murder in the fish house! Grandma chewed his a$$ on the way to the hospital when we finaly quit fishing and got home! That night I realized my grandpa is probably superman!

Did it last winter, had a bunch of ice built up on the blades, tried to bust it off with my hands untill it gave way and sliced my ice armor mitt and cut my finger. Thought, "that hurt" then did it again and cut my other finger. Next thought was "I'm retarded"

Wrapped a paper towel and elec tape around the digits and fished the rest of the night though, probably should have got stitches.

No comparison as far as pain or blood loss goes, but my buddy put a hook through his nose ice fishing a year or two ago. Nobody (not even him) knows exactly how it happened, but it was only an inch below his eyeball. We tried pulling it out, but it wouldnt go, so we had to cut it with a wire cutter. We still laugh about that day.
