Marcum VS820 vs VS380

Has anyone seen these camera's operate side by side in comparable conditions? I'm wondering if the 820 has a better picture than the 380?

My buddy has a 380 and it is great but gets a little grainy during low light. I'm curious if the 820 has a better (or clearer) picture in low light and is worth the extra $300.

Thanks!

it depends on your opinion. The 820 has an LCD screen I believe, Its really nice.. But what separates the 2.. the 820 has the sony super head camera. It has an auto iris. Which will open in lower light situations and allow the camera to see more light.. at least that is how it was explained to me. I own the 820. And like it.

Also, the 820 is much more easily viewed in direct sunlight than the 380. So if you plan on using it much in the soft water season it may be worth the double price.

Also, I heard the cameras are exactly the same (Marcum rep). The only real difference is the display.

I think Chode is correct. The cameras Manta cameras are the exact same between the 380, 820, and 825. The 380 uses a CRT moniter, the 820 is flat panel black and white LCD monitor, and the 825 an LCD color monitor. The LCD screens are larger than the CRT.

LCDs should be easier to view in higher light. All CRTs that I know of have bad glare.
