Polaris RPM Question

Hello -

I have a 2007 Polaris Sportsman 500 EFI. I am wondering what the normal RPM'S should run at? WIthout towing anything and driving around 25-30 mph the RPM'S are around 4,200. I looked in the manual and it doesn't say anything so I am hoping someone around here could help. Thanks in advance.

what does it idle at? should be around 500-700 depending on how cold the engine is, could be a bit higher if it is really cold. driving around, that sound about right, i think my non efi runs around 4k at 30 or so

Engine revs up when you give it some throttle and stays there. The clutch shifting up pretty much controls the speed. That's why they're so hard on gas. I have a 700 and it gets half the fuel mileage gets as my friend's Honda Rancher with the electric shift.

Also depends on if your in low or high range.
