merkman
The northerns never hit it, a few nip at it on the head. I suppose that makes sense since northerns will rarely get aggressive with a non jigged fake decoy.
shamalex72
I use a floater all the time, I like to put my floater down first wait about 10-15 min and then put my live sucker over top if I don't see anything. I have speared some nice fish before I even get the live decoy down. Pretty much every time the northerns come into it really slow, so you have alot of time to get ready. The northerns never hit it, a few nip at it on the head. Do you use a northern floater? How far off bottom do you usually run it?

behind-the-head
The floater I use is red and white its about 12" long. I would actually use one alot bigger than that. I usually run my floater just so my live sucker will swim over top and I usually run my live decoy about six feet down depending how deep I am. I would like a few more and I would have two to three down at once with my live sucker on top.

Gordie
yep nothing like a good tradional plastic decoy. You must fish alot of plastics for bass and cant break the habit

shamalex72
Had one little guy sneak in under the floater, you can just see his snout in the top of the pic. Ended up gettin two right away this morning, both about the same size(3lbs.)First one came to the minnow first then over to the walleye decoy. The second came to the walleye decoy about twenty minutes later.

shamalex72
How did the weight and retrieving work? good. I made a little cradle for it to sit in that I attached to a couple chimney cleaning rods. The rods are threaded on each end so you can add as many as needed.
