Auger advice needed

I've got 25+ year old Eskimo. Just put on my third set of blades ($20 for the pair). Have drilled hundreds of holes in the ice and probably fifty holes in the dirt with an old hand auger bit I converted to a dirt auger. One of the things I like about the Eskimo is that you can sharpen the blades yourself very easily. My only quarrel is that it doesn't have a guide point for starting holes so it wanders a bit until you get the hole started. My old auger is the energizer bunny of augers.

Imo the nils is the best auger hands down. Strikemaster has plastic handles, recoil issues, and an annoying decompression button. If you want the toughest lightest fastest auger made get the nils. You are more than welcome to try mine and could also bring my friends new solo with(if the recoil will stay together). Funny strikemaster gave him extra recoil parts after having it fixed. Doesn't sound like they are too confident of there fix to me. Good luck

McGurk, a common mistake made by many who are hesitant to switch to an Icegator auger.

I can punch 45+ holes on a single charge through 18 inches of ice.. in frigid temps. Using a strikemaster chipper blade.

Just sayin..... not sure how much some of you guys "run and gun". but 45 holes is about all my back can handle grin

Too many people shy away from this excellent choice cuz its not gas operated... thats the EXACT reason I switched and wish I had sooner.

Just my .02

I have never met an IceGator owner who regretted the decision....

Well, you may all be right, but after a look at their HSOforum it may be difficult to switch people over at the moment.

All powerheads and batteries: Sold out until after Feb 1.

No dealers in MN. IA, WI, MI, and NY; yes, but MN; no.

That helps narrow down one's search.

Believe it or not I am still using my original Lazer Mag I bought or should say my girlfriend got me for Christmas in or about 1990. All I know it was the first one they made. Just changed the spark plug for the 1st time last year. I usually drill at a minimum 50 holes each time out. I just looked at the reciept a couple weeks ago and she paid a whopping $179.00 plus tax back then. That was big money then. My friends can't believe I haven't updated yet but I say why? Others I've been with that have the new model's of variess brands that can't get them going tells me why I still have the original Lazer mag..

Thanks for all the great info guys.

Are there any local dealers that carry the Nils augers? They are at the upper end of my price range but I don't really want to make my decision until I have at least checked out all of the options in person.
