8" vs. 10" hole

I guess it would depend on where I fish and what for. For walleyes northerns and panfish I have never needed anything bigger than the 8" LazerMag that I got. If I lived in a area that I fished lakers and big pike a 10" would be the way to go. Bringing a laker up any hole is a challenge and the few times I got to fish a 10" hole it did work better for me.

As far as the safety issue Im undecided. I have seen plenty of people stick their foot down a 8" hole to get it stuck down the hole, if it was a 10" hole they wouldn't have gotten stuck in it. On the other hand I could see the bigger hole being a problem with little kids. Either way they will still get their feet wet and hopefully learn their lesson to watch where they step (I did that my self when I was a little kid).

I guess it comes down to your own situation. If I had a 10" and had kids I would downsize for safety. Otherwise its whatever works better for you.
