harvey lee
This post is for all those who inquired how well these lights lite up a portable and how many one needs.I placed one on the front bar approx in the middle and it lights the portable up well enough to see pretty well all over.Could I tie a panfish jig with 4# test in this light, yes.I thought i would need two for tying jigs but no so.I have not tested the other brand we offer for sale in the store but I will be very soon.http://www.outdoorprostore.com/led-ice-fishing-lights.htmlI may place anotherr on the back bar for lighting up the inside of the tub on the bottom very well but I don't know if thats needed yet. DonBo
That's good to know that one's enough. The size of it sounds like it would be great in a smaller flip type porty. Do most people just carry an extra vex battery to power these lights?
mmclain6101
are there some directions on how to convert these led lights to be used with a flasher battery?
jwhjr
The Luminator lights through the OPS have the alligator clips already on them for hooking up to a flasher battery. An extra battery is handy for powering them.
harvey lee
Most carry a extra flasher battery for the lights. No conversion. Just tie strap the lights on the bar where you would like them, route the wire down that same pole and clip the clips to the battery. They clips are colored for positive and negative. crappiekid
i did purchase a set from the outdoor stoor and work great better than my rope LED. Yes the extra VEX battery will last 2-3 nights on the ice . The only draw back is the rope lights can be left zip tied to the pipe while travel but ... I am nervous about lqleaving the HSO lites in shelter as they dangle down. I will try it in time.....
fishwater
I put Velcro tape on the back of all my bar lights, then place patches of Velcro on the frame in various places to affix the light securely.

Don't get the zip tie to tight or they could rip.The velco also works great mentioned above.
Johnsonator
Can they be left attached the pole or should they be taken down each time? Has anybody powered them from the same battery that is powering your flasher?
we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Rick Posted December 10, 2009 we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Share Posted December 10, 2009 The Luminator LEDs can be left up or they can be taken down.Yes they can be hooked up to the same battery used to power a flasher. Johnsonator
Thanks Rick, How do the Luminator LED's compare with the Super Bright LED's as far as light output?
harvey lee
I believe the Luminater lights are just a bit brighter. It may not be much difference when I tested them in my portable.
Johnsonator
Thanks Harvey, Does either one of them appear to be more durable? The Illuminator lights don't look quite as tough in the pictures.
fishermatt
The Luminator lights are fully encased in clear rubber, so there's not much that will break them. If they get stretched or you purposely bend it in half upwards, it can stretch or break the copper strip that runs through the middle and cause half of the light to quit working. A few people who have bought these have broken them by playing with it and seeing how far it will bend in every direction. Don't try to fold it in half unless you want half a light.
