Reflectix

I have read other posts about the different ways of attaching Reflectix to the poles, but I am wondering are you guys attaching it just to the top or along the sides also? I have the Clam Guide and this is going to be my project on Friday. Thanks grin

I just do the ceiling on my Lodge - it acually drapes down about 4" to the top of the door, and about a foot+ down the back side. Nice thing about it for flip-up, you can keep it up between the poles and canvas even when you fold it down. It folds up with the canvase very nicely when you collapse the shack - just adds a little extra bulk but not bad.

You will notice a big difference with just doing the ceiling. Adding it to the sides would be something you would have to install/remove everytime you setup/took down - that would be a pain IMO. Maybe do it for situation for extreme cold and you plan on staying put on a spot. I used my setup with just reflectix on the ceiling in -16 to 0 degrees outside and was very warm and no condensation on the ceiling.

If your Glam guide is the same size as mine, I made mine 54 inches by 62. This covers the roof. I had to piece the reflectix together since it comes 48 inches wide. I thought about just going with 48 down the middle, however I wanted all three velcro staps to be used all the way across to attach it.

I have a Guide and went with the 48 down the middle. Seems to work pretty well.

Just cut slits so I can put the velcro through to the poles to hold it in place.

Still folds up well, without any issues.

I agree with Bartman's approach - going with a strip down the middle will work, but for optimal efficiency, I would make sure that the Reflectix span's the entire ceiling.

Duct tape works great for taping the pieces together. On my Otter Lodge, the duct tape seam sat over the center ceiling pole.

I used this in my team wild 3. I had to put two pieces together, but didn't use duct tape, but used the foil tape for pipes. I also put the reflectix down the back side of the house, then cut out for the window. Works great for when the wind is strong. Just face the back to the wind, and can't tell with the reflectix on it.

BBB, I used your post for reference when installing mine. How did you attach to the bottom (sled)in the back? It seemed like if I couldn't attach it down there that it wouldn't be tight to the back.

I just tucked the reflectix down by the tub, and the pole that my team wild 3 takes to hold the back up held the reflectix in place. This is the verticle pole that has the peg on one end, and clips onto the pole on the other.

I used duct tape as opposed to zip ties because I thought they might create a wear point for the canvas to rub on. I really didn't want to have to patch my canvas in 6 different places half way through the season. I don't know for sure if it will wear that much, just used the tape as a precaution.
