Cable Wiring Service?

We need to re-rout the Cable in our house to make my wife a better home office. We are running our computers wireless, but it woud be much better if we could put the router in her office vs 2 floors away. Does anyone know of a company or person in the south metro that can re-route the cable for us?

I have cable running to every room in my house and if all you're looking to do is get a cable to your office it's pretty easy.

Find where the cable is coming into the house. It will more than likely be pluged into a box not far from where it enters the house. Unplug the cable from that box and run it into a spliter (not sure of the technical term). From there, run one cable wire back into the original box and snake the other to your office.

The spliter and extra cable can be purchased at Best Buy or any number of electronic stores.

Good luck.

If you are OK with snaking wire through the walls a splitter and running it up would be the best bet. You would also look a wireless extender, it may be cheaper than pulling wire if you all you need is better wireless reception in her office.

I would caution you against running a splitter at the box outside. I have Comcast and this summer had a knock on my door from Comcast telling me my loss of signal from a cable splitter was degrading the signal of an entire block! I ran a new cable direct to my router and everything was good to go. Go ahead and split the cable after the router to feed your devices.

You should call your cable company, generally anything outside the house they are responsible for, inside you are. They can be very accommodating about re-routing cable to a new room if you ask.

I'm pretty impressed with the service for $9.99.

We have a multi-level home so I knew it was going to be tricky. They showed up on time (actually called for permission to get there early)and realized that the path of least resistance (and fewest holes) was to bury a cable around the outside of our house and run it into my wifes office at ground level. Install was done in 20 minutes, and they are going to try to get the cable buried next week - unless it freezes up. All that will show is about 4" of cable going from ground up to the house.
