AccuWeather

plzzzzz say the deep freeze is here!!!

The coldest weather of the season thus far will happen later this week in Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis and good deal of the nation's midsection.

Numbing cold will bust out of central Canada and into the Plains and Mississippi Valley during the middle of the week. From here, it will fan out to the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley on Thursday. The East will have their shot at this cold outbreak come Friday into the weekend.

At the core of this cold blast, daytime temperatures will hold in the 20s. Highs below 30 degrees will likely occur at Minneapolis on Thursday, for instance. Also on Thursday, readings will hold in the 30s at Chicago and Detroit.

Biting winds thrusting the cold southward and eastward will make the air seem colder by 10 to 20 degrees than shown by thermometers.

On Thursday and Friday, cold winds over the still warm Great Lakes will trigger the lake-effect snow mechanism leading to significant snowfall eastward from the lakes.

Yes, Accuweather two weeks ago was saying the Canadian cold front would be in the upper Midwest a couple days before Thanksgiving, but they moved the goal posts back.

On this long-range forecast, they've remained steady that the cold air is coming on or about December 3. Hopefully this time they're right.

Ya it does look good for the second weekend. IF it holds out we should have some decent ice by then. I kinda hope it doesnt freeze up till after next weekend. I have accuweather premium and they are saying that next weekend we are going to get a few inches of snow. So knock on wood it snows before the ice starts going.

YES!!

We need a good solid 6 inches of ice or more before we get any snowfall this year!!

Man, the last 2 years have been just painful. A few inches of ice then lots of snow. It was a slush fest for most of the season.

I sure hope we dont get a repeat of that again this year.
