8'6" ice frame

why don't any of these frame guys build and sell the max width frames. why would you build a house only 7' wide? it doesn't cost much more to build it max road width..just a question as I notice a lot of folks buildin g em narrow? can't wait for the ice

If they were to build them to the max, there isn't any room for any error. If you were to purchase just the frame from the builder, then do all the house building yourself, you have to keep in mind that you cannot have anything stick out past that frame, including windows, lights, or anything else that might stick out when built. If you were to purchase a window that sticks out 1" from the edge of the siding, it would be over the 8'6" max.

that sounds a bit nit picky. has anyone on this forum ever got pulled over and measured by law enforcment?I would definetly take my chances because the width of a shack is what makes the space imo.

It is a little nit picky, but it only takes one time getting pulled over and measured to get a citation. I, for one, don't want to be "the example".

It is up to you, if you want to push the envelope, and possibly get caught.

Mine is 8 feet wide, and having the extra headroom is a big thing to me. At 6'3" and 230, I like having room! My buddy has a 6.5 x 12 and I can fish out of it, but it feels cramped. Mine is 8 x 16 with a three foot 'V' and two guys can spend a couple days in it without tripping over each other. It is more difficult to pull (gas mileage and wind resistance) but once on the lake it is worth the extra width. Just my opinion.

My frame is 8'6" wide, Its no different than a car trailer that is 8'6". As long as its not over, whats the worry???

There lots of room on the inside that you don't get with a 6'6". All you are doing is building out past the wheels to max wide.
