Rattle reels- how are the better than a real rod and reel?

Correct on the first assumption and they also can't disappear down the hole when you land a whopper.

Difficult to watch the poker/cribbage hand, drink beer and have an eye on the bobber.

i have had better luck on rattle reel with out bobber for crappie! Better than Jigging and Vex

I like to have a rattle reel at one end of the house while I am jigging at the other end. It is also fun and actually takes more skill and practice to hand over hand a fish. You have to actually feel the fish and give it line instead of using the rod to take up the slack. Anyone can catch a fish on a rod! Once you get the feel for it you will love it and really feel like you are fishing!!!

I always use one rod for jigging and my other line is a rattle wheel. It seems like I catch the majority of my fish on the wheel but that has to do with presentation and not the RW.
