browning_gold
I was in southern ND this weekend pheasant hunting, most were iced over except for larger bodies of water. Saw maybe 10 ducks total in an area that they were loaded in last month.
duckster
I just got back from hunting ND south of Jamestown and there were few ducks around. Did see a movement of snow geese on Sunday. Most of the ducks around us were divers and there were a few honkers also.-Duckster
TylerS
Went out this past Saturday for one more crack at filling my deer tags. Didn't see any deer...didn't see any ducks. Heck, didn't see any waterfowl, period. Very strange. Big water was still open, but small sloughs are freezing solid overnight. You'll find ducks, but you'll have to put on some miles and scout. Right now any ducks are super concentrated.
wooduck26
I just got back TODAY from there....if you find the birds you find THOUSANDS....all small stuff is froze solid. Med suff will be froze by morning....big water is wide open. Most of the divers are gone. Mallards are there, ya just gotta find them. lifterpuller
Headed out Sunday morning.Going to have to pound the roads hard. Hopefully it pays off.Anyone have any recent reports?
WallyGader
I got back on tuesday, shot 160 snows in 4 hunts 75% juvies, and finally broke the ice and got some jewelry on a juvie blue. Ducks far and few between, there are in very concentrated pockets so if you find them and are going to be hunting them for a couple days i would try and milk the spot out. There were alot of canadas around but very spread out and mostly in bean fields so never set up on them. Hunted SE Nodak. Good Luck!
lifterpuller
Thanks for the report. I was only going to bring 4 racks of sillosocks to create more trailer room. Now the whole white spread is coming with. Were you driving trucks into fields now with stuff starting to freeze?
lifterpuller
Just got back last night. It took a lot of miles to find them, but we hunted the same group of birds for limits for 4 days. Yesterday morning they didn't show up because their roost turned into a rink. We found them a few sections away pounding different corn coming off of big water. Got permission and shot one last limit in about an hour. I am guessing the big water they were using would have stayed open another day or two and we could have kept going, but we were tired of eating duck and satisfied with the good hunts we had. Set up for snows one morning to get the finger from our birds and have them set up a huge feed in the next section. They were there in BIG numbers. A lot of Canadas moved into the area yesterday. The last greenheads of the year in a couple inches of snow: [url=]

Meyer8043
Just got back last night and was hunting since Thursday and shot our limits of geese and ducks everyday! It took longer to set up decoys then it did to shoot them. It was my first time out there and it was crazy watching 200 mallards pile into the decoys it was quite the sight! Wait a sec, wait a sec..... I thought they were all down in Missouri? Wish the season was still open for a couple more weeks around here.... Nice shooting! I'm jealous! I miss watching the 200+ mallards set into the deeks! Didn't happen this year... Hopefully next year if its not more record setting weather! Meyer8043
The guys i was with said that it wasn't even prime time yet! They said next week there will be even more birds then what we saw and that's hard for me to imagine because I've never seen that many birds in my life. There were times when we had 100 geese set into the decoys with another 1000 circling it was insane I'm hooked on ND hunting.

You see 100, then a couple hundred, then 500 more all corkscrewing into the deeks! Same with the geese. Its something to see.... Just wish the season was open for a couple more weeks for them to make their way down here! Wait.... Everything's locked up, so no birds remain.... How did you see/shoot so many? You sure you didn't accidentally head south to Missouri? NO WAY you went North and shot that many ducks Must have been local birds LOL
