natebuddy
How did you get a license for duck? Aren't they all a lottery still out there?
Jarrod32
Where are you going? Waterfowl season is only open in some areas at that time...On the other hand, I've always preferred late season pheasant hunting to early season...and as this season seems to be running particularly late, you should have some excellent pheasant hunting at that time... strait-meat
pheasant should be good but might be frozen for ducks--I am heading out tomorrow to hunt some pheasants!

Jarrod32
If you are in the designated "high plains" zone for ducks, duck season will be open. That runs roughly along the Missouri River and then west. That is open until January 14. Everything east of there will be closed for ducks.Canada goose season will still be open in "Unit 2" for geese. That is roughly all of the counties bordering the Missouri River (with the exception of those furthest north in the state). It also includes a couple other counties in the western part of the state. Goose season will be closed in the rest of the state at that time. You will likely find open water on the Missouri River in the south part of the state at that time, and the Pierre area is always good for goose hunting. Jarrod32
Yep. Pierre area you should be good to go for everything. And you should have good hunting at that time, too...certainly for pheasant and geese. The ducks might be a bit sparse by then, but if the weather holds, there could still be some around...
