Snowmobile Rack for Fishtrap Guide

The thread on the 4 wheeler rack for an ATV got me thinking...

I have a Fishtrap Guide. I have been thinking of getting a snowmobile for icefishing. Is it possible to make a rack that would hold a Fishtrap Guide that fits on the back of a snowmobile? I would probably be looking into a 2-up trail type sled, so it would be a longer machine.

I know there are options to pull the shack with a tow bar, but that gets stuff full of snow, and bounces everything around a lot if the snow/ice is rough. I could also probably pull a trailer with it, but stuff still gets beat up when things are rough.

Is a 60 pound shack loaded with another 10-20 pounds of stuff too heavy and too long to fit in a bracket on the back of a snowmobile?

If any of you have done this, do you have some pictures of your setup?

Thanks!

gill, if you go pick up a copy of the new Clam Ice fishing brochure at GM or any of the stores that sale them. You will see a picture inside and one on the back cover of 4-5 sleds lined up and 3 of the selds have just what you are looking for on the back of them. So yes someone does make them, but if you have a welder you could maybe make your own. wink

Each one of those racks was custom made...there's no off-the-shelf rack that's available. There's too many variations in sleds to build a 1 size fits all type of rack.

If you do some digging around on the site for all those guys in funny blue suits, there's some info there on elevated racks that even has some info about someone to contact about building one. wink I believe he's the same fella that built most of the racks in that photo.

This topic seems to come up at least 2 or 3 times every winter. If you serch the forums for terms like "snowmobile" and "rack", you'll probably find several good threads with pics of several nice setups....including mine. wink
