Cwboymn1
We just got back from a 4 day trip with 5 guys. i had to pass on you something that was fantastic! I took a Cook's ham and put it in a crockpot at 5am when we got back at 7pm i could smell it as soon as i opened the truck door, WOW i have never tasted ham better than that one, next i am going to add a can of pineapple and see how that tastes! Crockpot liners are great no cleanup just pulled it out and put the potrost in for the next day and away we went!Anyone have some other ideas/recipes for easy meals that are fast and not out of a box? titelines
I've made a ton of meals in Crock-Pots, Slow-Cookers, Dutch Ovens etc. No one recipe comes to mind, but there are several cookbooks out there that have a ton of great recipes. The one universal thing I've found is that you should season everything to your taste. The recipes given are usually a bit bland for my tastes.Good luck - Happy cooking!
Steve Foss
My all-time favorite when out hunting or ice fishing all day in the cold is to put some venison sausage, sliced potatoes, onions and carrots with some water and salt/pepper in the crockpot on low before leaving in the morning.By the time you get back, it's a wondrous feast befitting the return of the hard-working hunter/angler. Cwboymn1
I took the backstraps from a deer that i got early doe and pinwheeled it in Sams Club bacon for one of the meals during last weeks hunt, that was fantastic as well. i still think Sam's has the best bacon! Big Dave2
Well, where we hunt, we don't have electricity for a crock pot so this year we put a pork roast in the propane oven with some sliced potatoes while we were out for the evening hunt. When we got back the shack smelled awesome!Another night we were going to grill up some beef tenderloin but the grill at the deer shack was ruined so we cut it into pieces and fried it in butter on the stove. It was delicious!
tunrevir
Backstraps with bernaise and crabmeat.I like to season the backstraps with garlic salt and onion powder and black pepper and a couple dashes of worchester. I buy the packaged crab meat at the deli and a packet of knorr bernaise sauce mix. Grill the backstraps appproximately 8 minutes per side for nice medium/medium rare. Put sauce mix in sauce pan, add milk and butter stir untill thick ~5 minutes over medium high heat, Remove steaks from grill place crab meat on top and pour bernaise over it. Start to finish you have about 15 minutes not counting the time it takes to get the coals going. Quick easy and very tasty!
