Otter Seats

When I was down in Duluth I notcied MG had different seats in their otter houses. I know you may get a bench or cushioned but the seats they had in their display were amazing. They were similar to sitting on a boat seat. I looked at otter outdoors and all they have is the gray cushioned seats and benches.

Wow ...didn't know they upgraded their seats. Must be to compete with the higher end Frabrill line of shack's. I'm pretty happy with their old seats, but the new design looks pretty sweet. Anyone needing seats for their Otter could probably find some good deals on the old style.

I sat in them in Duluth and they were amazing! They felt eaven sturdier than the Frabill. They seats I saw snapped into the bar in the back and clipped on the front of the sled as well. To slide the seat you just tipped it back and it slides to where you need. You can remove them as well.

I think you get the old style seats with a package and the fancy ones if you order them separate. Looks like the metal bracket goes over the back of the tub which would interfear with the house clipping to the sled.Guess I'll find out I have a medium pro that i'm picking up tomorrow.

FYI ... the metal bracket does ot interfere with the house clipping onto the slead. At least is is not a prblem with mine. I like that they are not bolted to the sled like others. and is all one assembly not requiring installation of additional hardware to the sled.

I just got my new Otter and yes the seats are great! Very comfortable and 1 may even do spare duty in my boat. Makes them long days on the ice more enjoyable. I prefer the swivel seats over the bench seat. Easier access to gear in the tub and with the new seats more comfortable.

I also picked up a new Otter hard sided rod case and 4 32" walleye rods fit in there very nicely. If this bad boy dont protect my rods nothing will.

Also got a auger tube so I dont have to worry about cutting anything up with the old Nils blades. Man them babies are SHARP!

I wish Otter could figure out a way to adapt the single seats to the bench brackets so that the seats coule stay attached but flipped up to get at stuff in hte sled like ya can do with the bench. I have the bench now, and go back and forth from really liking it to not so much. It has a pretty straight back on it and takes up more room. With 2 single seats you can set a bait bucket and misc stuff on the floor of hte sled at get at it between the seats, with the bench ya cant get at the stuff in the sled very easy.

The new houses will come with the new black seats and the Wilds come with a bench. The new seat design allows you to lift them and move side to side for easy access to gear.

I also love my Sportsmans Caddy. Tons of room for all my tackle and other goodies. Beverage holders and I keep my battery for my lights in it as well. I wont go without it now that I have one.

Are the supports for the new seats different from whats pictured on the site? Looks like the same bracket as before, just sits over the lip/edge on the sled. Or by "lift them" did you mean you can lift the whole works off the sled to get at gear?

I like the way the bench seat actually lifts up and gives access to the whole sled, no monkeying around with longer items, like a spud bar, to maneuver it around the seat supports. I have tried to take the bench off and just mount seats to each support but there is to much play in the bracket with the pivot/hinge and it leaves them to wobble side to side.

If you look at the pic of the bench seat flipped up on Otters site, and then picture that same set up but with individual seats on each support instead of the bench across both, thats what I would like to end up with.

I bought the cover designed to fit over the sled with the house/seats attached so it works fine for mine. There are 2 versions of the travel cover available, one for the sled only and one for the sled with house/seats attached.

Does anyone know if the new seats fold flat enough to fit under the travel cover without removing them? Thats another thing I like about the bench that i would like to somehow incorporate into individual seats.

Depends on what truck you have and what cover. The newer deeper bed trucks will alow it with some hard tanoe covers and some soft ones.

Go to www.otter.com and go in the Ice House Packages area or the set up directions on their site and they will show you all you need to know. The black molded seat support design the last 2 years makes it very easy to get longer items such as augers etc. out. Its not like the old ones where the seat post went all the way from front to back.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
