Double A Battery Powered Fan/LED Light

I saw a nice looking product in GM today (not sure if it's OK to say brand names) that is a combo fan and LED lights. It velcros one of the poles in your porty, or can mount to a perm. It takes 2 double A batteries. Do any of you with electrical knowledge know if it could be mod'ed to connect to a 12v battery?

The Clam ice shelter fan/led light?

its powered by 4 AA batteries = 6 volts

You would have to drop the 12 volt source to 6 volts or get a 6 volt battery. I would imagine this would have a pretty good run time on AA's. Rechargeable batteries have come a long way, having a couple sets charged and ready to go might work out a little better?

I picked up the bigger version that takes 2 D batteries. I've run the lights previously wired to a Vex battery, but I figured I'd give this a try because of the fan and not having to tote an extra battery etc.

Airjer sums it up. LED's draw really insignificant amounts of power, and that tiny fan motor is relatively small amp draw...they're designed to run on those small batteries. I know the unit you are referring to.Carry some extra batteries..less room taken up than a box of smokes.

In the "Camping Dept" at that same retail store there will be another brand of Fan/L*E*D Light combo that had a pin port on the side to run from a 6 V outside source. An adapter that converts 12 V down to 6 is available at Radio Shack....or run a 6 V Robo-Duck or Game camera type rechargeable battery if that's easier. I like the 12/6 V adapter method, that way you can stay with 1 12 V system for everything.

FYI: It is the same size 6 V pin port for the Big Buddy heater fan too, so there is a multiple use opportunity for this adapter.
