BlueLundFishrman
1 lb walleye, cut into chunks1 stick butter1 onion, finely chopped2 cans diced potato1 can diced carrot1 can chicken broth3.5 cups milk1 can kernel corn1 tsp salt1/8 tsp pepper1/2 lb bacon, cooked & cut into smaller piecesIn heavy saucepan, melt butter. Add onion, potato, & carrots. Cook over medum heat, stirring occassionally for 5 minutes. Add broth, cover & simmer until veggies are nearly tender, about 15 minutes. Stir in milk, fish, corn & bacon. Simmer 5-10 minutes. Add salt & pepper to taste. You can add other things to your liking. I think I've added asparagus tips in the last 5-10 minutes also. Celery as mentioned in another thread is also good to add, put in when you add the taters and carrots. Next time I make it I'm gonna add some chopped spinach to it. joe_stack20
this sounds great....only thing i am wondering is do you prep the fish before combining..(ie boil, bake, fry?)
BlueLundFishrman
no, it will cook in the chowder, no need to cook the fish ahead of time. Don't make the pieces of fish too small, the walleye falls apart pretty easy. I suppose I cut them into about 1 to 1.5-inch chunks. I normally "zip" the red line out also. BobT
Sounds a lot like a recipe a friend prepares for us during our annual fishing trip to Canada. He calls his Kalamojakka. It's a finish recipe and when I search the net I find there are a lot of variations. I will tell you that it is excellent!
huntnfish
This isn't the forum to be looking at when you're hungry. The chowder sounds great. Just took out a package of walleye to try it out.
