airdriver
Went out this morning a got one bufflehead on a long shot, happy with myself, packed up went home. Got home and thought well, the Vikes are on no one will be out the afternoon, I'll have the lake to myself. Now here is were it gets comical. Get to the landing, and see one truck, look out at the lake and he's hitting the northeast side of the lake, well, it's a big lake so I set up on the southwest side. There is about half a mile between us, this will work out good. Then the fun starts. First, the farmer behind me starts in with his equipment. RRRR, beep, beep, beep, RRRRR. Well, that's ok, he has the every right to get his work done, no biggie. Then another farmer, starts sighting in his deer rifle, BANG!, BANG! etc. Well, that's ok, he has every right to do that too. Next, out comes the guy with the sixteen foot Lund boat. You seen the boats, the ones that are red with the black and white stripes. Ok, I think he going fishing in a lake with no fish, but once again, public lake we share. Then out come the guys in the canoe, set up 50 yards from me. The lake is about 900 acres, but that is the spot they wanted. I guess I have good looking deeks.(Had out bufflehead deeks, stand out like a beacon) So, here I sit: RRRR, beep, beep, beep, BANG, BANG!! (deer rifle) and the noise from the guys 50 yards from me, quaaaak, quaaaak. Wait, it gets better. Fishing guy isn't fishing, he is going to go hunting in a red boat! I didn't get upset, I just sat there and laughed to myself, thinking, you just have to love public land. I wish I could make this stuff up, I know it would be a good book. airdriver
One shot at a can, but red boat guy was behind the duck, so I didn't want to hit him. Even, the dog turn her back to the lake, looked up me, with a look that said you gotta be frink'n kidding me, can we go home and eat now. It was that funny out there today. But, over all, no ducks. brmuskie
For all of you snobs out there - I have seen quite a few ducks shot from red lunds. Instead of making fun of them for hunting in a red lund maybe we should all be looking at them as hunters making due with what they have. Remember, we are all in this together. Gordie
no snobs here and by all means not making fun of anyone if they have a red white or blue boat doesnt matter to me cause if its not hiden good engough the birds hopefuly will come my way
BrdHunter01
I wish everyone brought a red lund out duck hunting.... More ducks for me I have no prob w anyone hunting in a red lund. If its hidden well enough or if you just use it for transportation u should be fine. Its any persons right to hunt in any color boat they want but if its visible for the birds, that is to everyone benefit hunting the same lake... I was getting [PoorWordUsage] they rolled in right behind me (30 yards) like it was nobodies business.
Musky Buck
Just when you think you might be able to have a relatively stress free hunt or you get there and it looks like finally I can have 1 peaceful hunt this season "Not". I thought I had a perfect goose field Saturday, permission secured got set and had many a flock on the way and bang bang bang, others got permission to sit on the fenceline(s) around this farm and hammered at every flock regardless of altitude. Roughly 50 rounds and saw 6 geese drop and of course a few wounded ones were running around and I watched these people go under the fence etc. to retrieve them in the field I was hunting, I fired no rounds and the best part of the hunt was thankfully it wasn't daylight savings quite yet so I got to sleep in a bit.
