1eyeReD
NOOB Question:Yesterday, I had some "seeing" action for the 1st time in the RJD Memorial Hardwood State Forest. While checking out this large piece of public property... I didn't find too many hunters which was a plus. But this was a mecca for horseback riders which probably explains why. But deer sign was everywhere. The fresh snow allowed me to see fresh tracks. I would backtrack and find that deer already crossed my path on the way back. There was a ground scrape path where a buck or some bucks would hit every 50 yds or so.I set up on it about 20 ft in a tree. 2 hrs later, a 6 pointer busts me because I decided to stretch. Didn't see [PoorWordUsage] today... Do you think they'd continue to hit up this trail? Did I just mess it up for myself? I tried my best to stay scent free with all the gear I have... But it was sure qiet today.I'm fixin to go back Thursday. Is it worth it?
Code-Man
I just had my trail camera showing me of bucks using the scrape at night.
buckhunter21
From my experience I would have to say that I rarely ever see bucks using scrapes during daylight, Im not saying it doesnt happen but I dont see it very often. If I set a camera over one all activity is after dark or maybe right at the crack of daylight but thats not too often. I think your chances would be better to set up over a pinch point where a couple trails come together. As far as screwing up that spot I think your still okay, Im sure that 6 wasnt the only deer visiting those scrapes.
maros91
During the time before the rut I have read that bucks will usually scent check their scrape areas. I have had some success hunting scrape areas while the rut is on.

SpitnArgueDuckClub*
Is this your best spot? Is this the spot you have the most confidence in? If yes the hunt it when the wind is right and when ever you can.
