when will more birds come down????

Recommended Posts

when will more birds come down? I have been scouting for 2 days and I have not seen much for ducks. I know the locals have lefted and the northerns have not come down yet. but I want to shoot some ducks its just sad around here right now. we need some strong cold fronts to come by and push more birds down. how have the rest of you guys been doing?

I was out yesterday morning and shot 12 for 2 guys, mixed bag of teal, mallard, redhead, ringneck, bluebill, and gadwall. Didn't hunt this morning but have a field that has mallards for tomorrow morning. I too have noticed that there are less ducks around than last 2 weeks but there is enough to shoot a couple. Lots of driving around and scouting has paid off.

STRONG cold fronts will be key. Thos ducks will sit tight in S Canada until the lakes freeze. The ducks will sit there (where they don't get shot at) until their roosting areas freeze and force them to move.

Ive noticed the last couple years that the corn coming down doesn't mean ducsk stick around. MN doesn't have much to offer them (in most parts of the state) so they really don't have much reason to stick around

My roomate and a couple buddies just came back from Canada Friday, said the birds were so thick up there it was like they were being swarmed by mosquitos. They'll be down soon enough, and I will be waiting for em in a picked cornfield.

I hunt about 10 miles north of Annandale and Sunday morning we saw the most ducks we've seen yet this year and had mallards cupping in the decs with zero effort on and off all morning....you just have to be where they want to be. They are around....my advice is to find some private water if you aren't seeing any birds.

i would go out there but just wat too many people. I heard its great duck hunting spot buy way too many people.

Didn't shoot a bird on opener and we usually limit with 6 guys. I did not see a duck on Pelican on Thursday evening. Drove past the access on Saturday and 4 trucks. Tells you that its slow.

And if you are critical of other people and make rude comments for no reason, you won't be well like or respected.

now I am not trying to start any fights here but when did I make rude comments? if I made a rude comment I am sorry I didn't mean too. I am scouting every chance I get because I work 6 days a week until 7:30pm and I go to school (st.cloud tech for machine tool). I am just still not seeing much for birds yet.
