Cost of a Sand point well

My place needs a new sand point well, Can anybody thats had to do this give me a "ballpark" idea of what it will cost me?

Iron, Any idea how deep the water table is?? Deeper than 25', don't mess with the sandpoint. Have a driller come in and give you an estimate. I have water at 28' and keeping 'prime' was always "iffy". You could flush, it would refill and then you go for a shower and nothing. Finally, I dug a 6'deep pit and put the pump down in the bottom, now in 2 years it hasn't lost prime once!! I'd REALLY like to put down a 4" casing and a submersible pump, but in Cass county, the 3 drillers I've talked to all say they can't/ won't put in a casing of less than 100'. They all answer "rules" when asked why not. I can't find that "rule" on the county or EPA websites. My theory is that they don't want to set-up the rig for less than a 100' well. In my case, the cost was the sandpiont ~$35, 3 lengths of 1 1/4' pipe, Drive couplings and drive cap. Got it all from Menards. If I recall correctly the sandpoint had to be registered, also. With a new pump,pressure tank and 25 feet of pipe about 250 for me.

Do you need a new well or you neeed a new sandpoint on your existing well? Pulling the pipe and replacing in the sand point MAY be a DIY job. Depth of the well, type of soil etc will dictate if you can easily doi it yourself.
