opening pheasant week-end

The resident pheasant season opened this past Saturday with poor results. Still alot of standing crops and lousy weather with few birds being seen. The regular season opens this Saturday to res/non-res. Weather is looking better.

I saw more skunks than birds (read my post in the hunting dog section) this last weekend.

its been wet all over around here, and the crops are gonna stay in for a while. I have seen some beans harvested here and there, but its gonna be a while yet until any major harvesting is done.

Standing corn everywhere in the brookings area. I wouldnt imagine things to be much different elsewhere either. Lots of rain as of late out here!

There will be farmers harvesting corn by Nov. 1 but i am doubting many will have there corn totally out.

I am guessing most of the corn will be out by Nov 15 (ish).

The harvest is going really slow. A lot of moisture including snow this past weekend.
