Capt'nJosh
1. Where is the weigh in going to take place? It looks like the State Park is about 3 miles from the lake so we wouldn't be able to do it there. 2. I wasn't sure that I'd be able to make it so I didn't make reservations and now the campground is full. Does anyone know of any other campgrounds in the area?3. When are we going to start on Saturday (11, or 12?) I will be arriving Saturday morning and want to make sure that we are there in time. Thanks in advance!Capt'nJosh

cluelessfisherman
Hey guys! Is there a hotel/motel close by? If not, I would be intersted in a resort also as I don't have any camping reservations made.I still have my golf ball - I probably should have turned that back in - but just so you know I still have it.Also - I have a question about the second day start up. Is it reverse order from the first day or lowest weight of fish going first - there was some confusement in that so I wanted to check to be sure. Now I suppose I should try to find a partner for this event...Clueless - -[This message has been edited by cluelessfisherman (edited 06-25-2002).]

GullGuide
Hey guys, thanx for rattling my cage...it's comming up quick isnt it!!We'll be doing the launch and weigh-in at the access in Starbuck. It is the best one of all our choices. We'll be having our meeting/drawing at 11 am and start at noon. We will also be doing a break at 4 for an hour, then fish from 5 to 9. Suday will be from 7 am to 11, then from noon to 4.See you there!!T
Guest
Clueless, I believe we draw golf balls before every event. You better bring that golf ball to Minnewaska! Big Jim,I have a campsite reservation at Woodlawn (Woodland?) Resort for Friday and Sat. night. I called in a couple days ago and they had at least 3 campsites still available for that weekend, and it was $20/night. Includes electricity, showers, docking, etc. They also rented boat lifts for a reasonable price...$10? I couldn't find any other resorts that had openings, everything seeming booked solid (that was semi-close to Starbuck).

Guest
Is there more than one public access in Starbuck? I could swear I saw an access just off of Hwy 29, near the swimming beach, and two more ramp sites in Hobo park canal/boat slip area. Which launch site will we be meeting at? Thanx[This message has been edited by CD (edited 07-01-2002).]
GullGuide
Not the ones in Hobo Park. It's the public Access in Starbuck. As far as I know, you have to pay to launch at Hobo Park. I'll check with Paul to make sure, but I think the regular public access is the one he picked out. I'll email everyone as soon as I check with him which should be tonight or tomarrow. Guest
It's the regular P.A. in Starbuck. It is just off of Highway 29. FYI there are two bait shops within 2 blocks of this access. We haven't figured out what where we are going to do the dinner yet. We were going to do it out at the State Park, but it sounds like not too many of you are camping out there. We will unfortunately probably still have to do it there, but we are working on alternative sites.------------------Paul[email protected]
Guest
Rumor has it CD has a big camping spot right on the lake. We could all eat there! I am sure there is room. Plus, if you eat to much and can not drive back to your site, you can stay with CD. I am sure he has lots of room in his camper.ScottS
Guest
Guys, checked out the hobo park ramp,,,it is public, they also have slips available in the canal for $5.00 per day,,,The park is two blocks south of the Minnewaska Bait Shop...Great ramp lots of room!!------------------Happy Hook'n Big Jim

GullGuide
So it is Hobo Park?Is there a place to beach the boat without paying the $5?
Guest
GullGuide,, there is some room at the lake end of the channel,, We talked to the gent in charge of the park and marina area. He told us they typically have lots of vacant slips for the weekend,, Appeared to be a nice picnic & park area next to ramps ifyou're looking for a place for supper... Guest
I like Hobo Park better. It had two different launch sites/parking sites in the canal and it is a public launch (I never saw a sign to pay any fees, or anything that it was private...tons of people were coming and going all day launching boats), in a canal, that is very protected. Parking 12 boats in the canal at once might be an issue, but a heck of a lot easier than on the Hwy 29 access if you get a stiff easterly wind. I think we could easily park boats off any public launch area (at 4 p.m. break) at the launch sites....it is relatively shallow and sandy bottom in case we need to beach boats. I will be out there on the Friday B-4, so I can look at possibilities too...
