Gyrfalcon

Immature female Gyrfalcon. This Gyr was banded by Frank Nicoletti and was presented to the folks at Hawk Ridge today. This is a casual falcon that many birders from all over have yet to see in the wild because they breed in the tundra and occasionally will over winter in the midwest. I was lucky by chance to be there today to view the falcon and photograph it as it was being released. I wanted to share this bird with to all in this forum. Enjoy.
