kt
Made it out sunday. First lake went looking for big largemouth and got blanked, not even a bite. My best area was being used by hunters so that played a role. Only stayed for an hour or so then changed lakes and species (smallies). The smallies cooperated much better. Ended up getting between 30 and 35 smallies all fish were 16-18 inches and really starting to get fat. Tried 3 or 4 areas but was only able to get them in one area. Caught about half on an jerkbait and the other half on a tube. Water temp was 48-50. Hopefully i can get out several times this week due to MEA break. st.crioxfishin
Didn't know about the secret word contest until I came back from my trip, but here are some smallies from the Big Ten Bass Fishing Championship that took place this past weekend on Lake St Clair in Michigan. The one in my right hand was 4+ and the one in my left hand was 5+

Nick Kuhn
Didn't do any bass fishing, managed one but it was only 16"-17", nice weight to it though. Saturday night though I heard a number of fish jumping in really shallow water while burning some wood. I think they were bass in for frogs but it was too tough to see. Tried a topwater for a bit but no luck getting them to hit it.Maybe next week I'll spend some time throwing something smaller than 7+" crankbaits...Was anybody else fishing with below freezing air temps? The forecast for our area was definitely off, I spent some time de-icing guides and levelwinds...
st.crioxfishin
Even though I was able to land some good fish, our team overall did not finish too well. The way the big ten tournament is set up, your entire team must have a good showing. Each school brings 5 two man teams (10 guys) and the best 3 bags out of those five teams counts toward the total team wieght. My boat had 3 fish for 13+lbs, good size fish, but we couldn't fill out a limit. Our team had 6 fish for 19lbs total. We ended up in 6th out of 8 schools. Michigan State had 15 fish for 49lbs, all smallies, they smoked them!
jalberg
Jalberg,That's a thick fish, what did you get her on? key was finding the most "alive" milfoil and dropping a jig on their heads. tops of points and steep dropping inside turns were key.
