Also, it might depend a bit on what u r used to already, I strayed 1 time and bought a Nova pump, really didn't like it a bit, sold it after 1 fall. Reasons though, I was used to the 870 and had trouble shouldering my nova because the stock is longer than an 870. I'm not a real long armed guy so the stock was catching my clothing etc and the pump part seemed like a longer reach and etc. Good gun, but not for me. I have 2 870 wingmasters from the early 80's, 1 express, and 2 synthetic black pumps 3 1/2" and those 5 pumps are still less money than 1 stud auto. Whatever you get practice with it a lot.

For those who say autos suck:

A few years back a few buddys and I got into a couple flooded fields for some mallard hunting. To make a long story short. 6 guys covered in mud from head to toes pounding the mallars. After about a hr of hunting I noticed that a buddy and I were the only two people in the group that were even able to shoot once. Everyboys guns were covered top to bottom with tick nasty mud. My buddys 870 was to the point where he could not even move the pump. The only two guns that would function were 2 SBE that got beat to $*** compaired to my and the other guns

it made me a believer and I traded my old gun for a new SBE

Auto all the way

ya we makes things harder than what they should be sometimes. But it was by far the worst field I have ever hunted. We walked probally 1/8 mile in ankle mude no water so that stick nasty stuff and then a 1/4 mile of knee high mud just get to the area we hunted.

It was one of those days that nuthing went right and we made it harder than needed but well worth it.

Ill look for pics it give you guys a idea how muddy it was

benelli m2, new this year. last 6 i shot a benelli montefeltro, but traded it in so i don't have to abuse a nice upland gun draggin it around in the grouse woods or the marsh for ducks

won't even think about straying from benellis, they are fantastic guns
