I just could not resist.

I had 50 to 60 coots swim into the decoys this morning.

Killed 13, the dog did not seem to happy about having to retrieve 13 of them.

Coot Jerky is pretty tasty.

i shot a few this weekend.. saw one flying away at what i thought to be 50 yards ish walk to go get it i count 75 steps =0 only if ducks would drop that good! coot jerky huh?? how do you make it?

Thirteen coots huh? Busy morning processing all that meat I'll bet.

We skin them and put in crock pot with potatoes, carrots, onion, seasonings and let simmer for 4 to 6 hours. Meat falls off bone and takes strong taste away.

RRR my grandma used to make a cream based soup with squirrels rabbits and coots I will try and dig up that recipe its called booya and it tastes great I never new that she put coots in it until about 5 yrs ago dont matter its exellent.

A couple years back while entering a local china buffet, the old asian at the till saw 4 of us all camoed out, and asked us,

"You shoot Duck?'

we all said 'yea!'

he replies, 'How much?'

One of my buddies said 'oh about 24',then my wheels began turning, 'guys, he's not asking how many we shot, he's asking to buy them'

He confirmed this by asking again, 'no, how much?'

we huddled together and knew it was illegal, but thought how great it would be to go take 30-50 coot and sell them to him a 2-3 bucks a piece.

we began laughing when we thought about next weeks special buffet: 'local duck'

We never did seriously considered selling our game, but it was good for a laugh, I just wanted to know how much he'd pay for a coot?

You make Coot Jerky just like Duck and Goose Jerky.

I let it marinade for at least 72 hours or longer when using coots.

Really they seem to eat the same things as other ducks, why would they taste ant different? You would probablly never know the difference.
