Camping trailer Furnace won't keep running

Shwangman

Question

This weekend we went up to get our camping trailer ready for storage. Got up there on Friday night, fired up the furnace, ran fine until 5am on Saturday morning, went out!! Thought it was out of gas so switched tanks, fired up ran for about 10 seconds, shut up, fired up again, ran for 10 seconds and then noting. I lit the stove to make sure gas was coming though the lines and it was and went and shut off the furnace, waited, stitched it to air and then back to heat and started and did the same thing. I went outside and took the cover off to see if there was a reset or something but could not find anything.

I was thinking make getting a air compressor and blowing it in there, thinking make a contact was dusty or not getting contact. Anyone have this happen before or what I should be looking for or doing would be helpful.

Thanks.

Shwangman,

Probably the thermal coupler that indicates the flame ignited. You didn't say if yours has a pilot light or other ignition however, if it comes on for a while and then goes out, it usually would be the sensor that determines that the flame has ignited.

Between critters and Box-elder bugs or Asian Beetles, they like the vents in those furnaces. The first thing I'd check would be the thermo-couple, just from the symptoms. The plugged exhaust is a good 2nd. I ended up putting a screen into my vent due to the Asian Beetles 2 years ago, not a problem since! Phred52

Running AC power or DC (battery) power in the camper?

If battery power, these furnaces need so much voltage to kick open the gas valve. I've had two campers that if the battery was slightly low, no heat, but the fan would run constantly...

One camper had electrical issues where if there was a light on inside, it was enough draw to keep the furnace from working properly....even when plugged in to AC power.
