What is this growing on my walleye?

The common name for it is lake warts. It's a virus that spreads from fish to fish (another reason to not transport fish or water from one lake to another). It's not harmful to the fish or humans and will eventually go away (ie. fall off the fish). I've seen it most frequently on big fish from big lakes.

I catch a few of them with that on them and I believe it is a virus called Dermal sarcoma or lymphocystis,The ones I catch have more of a lumpy white warty look to them.I talked to the local CO and he said just throw them back.It is not known to affect humans but I am not going to risk it,I am already ugly enough without warts on my gills.
