Augusta
ND is projecting a 500,000 bird kill this year, and MN is projecting 420,000 bird kill. Makes one wonder if it's worth the expense of a ND out an out of state trip. I know of a number of guys that are switching their trips to SD this year. Tom7227
A few years back I went to ND and had a great time and lots of birds. Next year I took my family out on the exact same dats and had zero luck. A PF biologist told me that my problem was that there was a drought the second year and that there was a lot of chick deaths due to no bugs in july/august. He said that there could have been a thunderstorm 3 miles away and things would have been different. Bottom line for me is that you have to be able to move around, get access to a number of pieces of ground and hope for the best - or be prepared to spend $100+ a day to hunt fields where someone claims there are birds. WildFan10
I have a trip planned up there for the 24th of October - hopefully the corn will be out! I am going near cooperstown, ND so hope we can find a few birds. Fist time hunting in ND.
brittman
Very, very few pheasants in the Cooper area unless they are released. This area is outside the main NDG&F survey area. Sure, a few were starting to make home in NE ND, but last year's winter took care of most of those. Better be thinking ducks in that area of ND.
