.243 bullets

Lookin for a good .243 bullet for bear hunting. I dont need replys sayin a .243 isnt big enough I've got a couple already but they didnt have pass thrus. Looking for a bullet that will hold together. any advice would be great. thanks

Federal loads up a .243 with an 85 grain Barnes Triple Shock-X.

Deep penetration, moderate expansion, high weight retention, long range and solid copper.

I know you don't want to hear this but a bigger bullet leaves a bigger hole. In my opinion 30 caliber bullets are too small for mature bear.

What do you use?

I was hoping my new Ruger 300 win mag would do the trick next year

45/70 Govt or 12 guage slugs (Breneke hard cast) work really well.

I would try Remington core locks in 100 grain pointed softpoints

Hornady has a "Light Mag" with their 95 grain Interlock SST. The light mag gives the round another 200 fps over standard loads. Sighted them in with my girlfriends gun for bears, i think they should do the trick, best thing I saw around. Reasonable price too at about a buck a shot
