outdoor ran
I've seen this also in years past. If we get a lot of rain and wind in the fall just before freezze up, the water can be alot darker then normal. Then if you get snow on the ice, the sun cant get in and it will be dark all winter
Jarrid Houston
Nice long holiday weekend of fishing. Started out down by Grantsburg WI and found a great lake full of nic plump gillz. had a great day, nice weather, and good company. Yesterday, we hit up Minnusing with a party of guys, again, nice day to be out. Only caught a few fish, but the best part was having a native washington state guy reel in his first few fish through the ice ever...So that was nice, I think hes hooked now. Plan on maybe doing some harbor outings this week, well see...
Sherpa
Good times out there for sure. Next time we will get a Wally. Too bad there were no smart fish for the doc to pull up. Good to see a guy ice his first couple fish though.
jefdig
Fished Gordon Flowage this morning in Chicago Bay, managed 8 gills between 7-8 inches, one small bass and 4 crappies between 10-11 inches. Not a great morning, but some action. They have been driving out for over a week now with full size vehicles.

Jarrid Houston
Closes in March. Caught a few little raimbows, all of which went back to the water. Nebaggie no good this weekend either. At least you can drive on lakes now..Maes setting up easier! Anybody else get out this weekend>?
outdoor ran
I think the regs say March, not sure. But there was a sign there this spring that said it was closed during the winter. The sign is gone now so not sure what the deal is. It should be closed during the winter to protect all them 6" bows Jarrid, a couple of buddies of mine fished USCL Sat evening and all night and said it was horrible too. Two dink eyes is all. jefdig
Yeah, this past weekend was a slow one. Fished Upper St. Croix Sat evening and had only 1 bite sitting in 18ft. Showed fish, but nothing active. Sunday, gave Lake Minnisuing a try and only managed to pull up a handfull of 5-6 inch gills. Fished the Southside, in 15ft. Depressing weekend with no action but dinks. Can only get better right?!?!? Looking forward to next weekend already!

outdoor ran
I think the Bay would be a good place has any to do it.
outdoor ran
Steve, I just read your report on the ice on the bay. That would suck if they keep busting it all winter. Theres a couple of fishy spots that would be tricky to get to. With the cracks and water color I may be taking alot more trips to Cheq this year insted of sitting on the harbor. vman59
ok I have a question for you guys. When I went through this past weekend and going over the harbor bridge I saw a number of people fishing in the harbor behind Perkins and the museum to the north. To far for me to go just curious as to what is caught there? I was on my way to and from Lake of the Woods.

Jarrid Houston
Saturday-Nebaggie, nothing to brag about..Real slow and boaring weekend of fishing. Caught a few small gillz and perch saturaday on Nebaggie. Moved around the lake all day trying to find active fish. Most everything I marked would not bite my presentation, so I switched that up all day long too. Sunday-Even more boring yet, St Louie..Marked 3 fish and could not get them to bite either. Hopefully this is the slowest weekend of the year. Can only go up from here.
