Tonights gopher harvest

My son Mitch and I have been doing a little gopher trapping on a few of our coyote hunting spots and have been doing real well. Since last Wednesday we've pulled in 97 of the little varmints. Here's a pic of 30 from tonight, he also caught 1 more behind the house.

Sweet. I used to do it as kid. I spent many fun hours trapping pockets.

We're across the river in WI and he's getting $3 for a tail on pockets and $1 for the little stripes. We have 53 of the death clutch traps and don't have any problems with them. Maybe I'll take a few pics of the way we set them but there pretty simple to use. Gotta keep our farmer friends happy.

That's quite a bounty! I've trapped a few in my day, and I have to say it looks like you've got it figured out.

We went out today and put out 25 more and pulled the card from one of my cameras I put over a pile of gophers and here's what we got.

$3 a goph? Dang. They are almost worth more than coon and mink.

Doublelunger, thats exactly why this weekend I'll be going thru the traps and start getting some ready to sell. I've got quite a few and am going downsize a bit for this fall. Just don't have enough time to justify the amount I have and we have a lot more fun calling those predators in the winter anyway.

I hear that. I quit trapping about 15 years ago for that reason. I do really miss it though. Just like Christmas every day out.
