Just purchased new Garmin 60Csx

I just got this new gps and i'm looking to purchase a chip. Do the lakemaster and navonics chips both show state and wildlifemanagment areas on them ? What chip seems to be more detailed, or in other words what one is better ?

Sorry but you cannot get Navionics for it. However there is a new Lakemaster for 09 that has a lot of updates on it. It is an awesome GPS, have had mine since that model came out.

I would suggest going to Garmin's HSOforum and look up that chip to see whats on it.

I would also suggest getting the cd version that loads into the computer. Reason is that now with 2 handheld's I still have only one chip. Get the cd and be able to put it on 2 units if need be.

I agree, with Garmin your mapping options are LakeMaster (specifically for Garmin) or any of Garmin's proprietary mapping products. For what you're asking about I think the LM card is a better way to go.

I'd need to check for sure but I don't think the CD version will let you download lake contours to your handheld unit, at least not on multiple cards. They build that type of protection into the cards and programs to prevent unauthorized copies, etc. I have the LakeMaster CD program that I use with my Lowrance units and I can view contours on my computer screen but can only transfer waypoints (not contours) to my GPS units.

I just got my LakeMaster CD-ROM yesterday ,,,I ordered it from Garmin as LakeMaster doesnt have the 09 Mn CD-ROM yet ,,I was told by Garmin they had 42 copies of the 09 CD but for some reason I recieved the 08 version ,,,I dealt with LM on this issue since mid May and now I still dont have any thing I can use on Lake Superior

Back on topic tho Yes you can download contours to the Garmin data card and it will also download to hand helds as I have a Rino 120 ,,,I do like my Garmin units but this issue has been frusterating

I haven't looked lately but when they added the card reader, did they eliminate the on-board memory so you have to download the map data to a card and then insert the card in the handheld?
