JimBuck
Hey Folks,I've been looking for a rod that I can use for #10+ blades and up to 8oz. plastics. I have an 8' H Compre that I love but I need something with a big more backbone to lessen fatigue on figure 8's and casting rubber. Anyone have any good recommendations for something in this range? I've looked at the 8' XH Compre but it's only rated up to 6oz. Any advice would be great...I'd like to stay under 180-200 if possible. Cheers. Rebel9921
Been using my 8'6 KT Pro Edge rods for SuperD's and DCGs with no problem... Maybe its time for you to go down the Custom path... the options are plentiful... with Slingblade, Predator, etc etc blanks you could choose from... Could always try the MI Dawg Rods... Im kicking myself in the butt for not purchasing a 9'0 Strike Reaction XH rod at the Expo last year...
JimBuck
I've been thinking about the custom path as well. My only constraint is that ideally I would like to have a rod ready for the 4th when I venture to Nestor Falls.
RK
Hiya - Check out the new Fenwicks. Been using them this year some, and they're REALLY nice. They have an 8'6" that is a great double-10 rod... Cheers,Rob Kimm
JRedig
I'd be shopping for something 9 feet long, sure makes life simple for figure 8's etc. The only stipulation is that with hard pulling blades, you need a good rod that has the right build to not fold in the 8 at boatside. I've settled on the predator blank at this point, now to save the coin.MI rods do get good reviews for the price, obviously intended for the plastics side of things. JimBuck
Thanks guys, I think I'll be making a few phone calls and look into the custom route. I just need to justify the extra money first....
HugoBox
Call Thorne's and ask about the C series. Not the Slingblade or Predator but I have a XH 9 footer that I used all last year and liked it enough that I bought an 8-6 this year. I use it primarily for the double 10's (now that I have an 8-6 I use that for big rubber). Best part is that I paid $160. The second best part is that I can say with 100% sincerity that I would have no problem throwing something as small as a Fudally Musky Candy with it (and I have) so its very versatile. Not sure if you're in the metro area but if so let me know and I could let you check it out. When I got mine they had a couple on the shelf so there shouldn't be a huge wait.Someday I may upgrade but for now I like what I have.Good luck - erik
Esox_Magnum
I have an 8' C Series and a 9' Predator heavy, I love both and both worth the money spent on them. I'll be adding a 9' XH Predator by next season.
