rangerZ520
Spinner baits and buzz baits are two easy lures to start with for bass, you will also pick up northerns with them. Crankbaits work well for a bit deeper fishing, soft plastics work well around docks.
stifler51
for bass, Baitcaster with a 6'6 rod, Rapala Xrap in gold. or spinning rod with a tube for weeds. Ull nail bass.
snoozebutton
For crappies I use pretty much the same type of baits I use for walleyes, only smaller of course. Small jigs with either minnows or plastics, jigs with little twister tails, small tube jig, and at times a beetle spin works good.
WyoChris
for crappies, my suggestions is a small pink tube... if they are passive tip the tube with a minnow head or full minnow and jig it really slow. For bass..... that gets pretty complicated, post in the bass forum and they will give you more info than you can handle. But I recommend getting a heavier rod with 12 lb test or higher (a big bass will take your line through the vegetation).... but the magical lure i found is either: 1. a purple lizard with weedless hook for the weedy bays2. a purple powerbait worm on a chart jig head3. if the above aren't working, put on a fat crankbait (be prepared to hook a lot of weeds with those tremble hooks)Good luck
