Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

I also run a vexilar and have been thinking about trying a

lx-5 or hummingbird ice 55 this year. I have not heard of any updates to the lx-5 other than the new ones put out 2500 watts instead of 2000.

You are correct on that ec30-06, the wattage is a change in the model this year. fishon68 if you search lx5 you will get all kinds of answers on this product, the watt change, and much more.

If you feel you must have the upgraded features, you may be better off selling yours and buying a new one with the upgrades.

I think I read that they stopped doing the LX-3 true colore upgrades, if that is true that I would be suprised that they would provide the LX5 upgrade option.

I also have a vex and was deciding on trying a LX-5 for the last few weeks. Today I decided and ordered one. I have a trip next week planned, so hopefully I'll get to "test" it grin

Just an FYI.. I called and emailed Marcum on this issue. The said they only stopped doing the tc upgrade until new parts arrive after the ice season. Next spring they will resume the tc upgrades.

I got the same response when asking about the TC upgrade (LX-3) last month, I found that to be an odd answer that "parts" were not available until after the current ice season. I think the upgrades are not a priority at this time.

    • Why do we need those new fangled solenoid things? My 41 Plymouth had a thing on the floor that worked the starter.  And another one for the high beams.  Bunch of sissies!
    • no tanks...............
    • That's exactly what I have in this system. Aluminum insect screen around a 2x2 frame that sits in the blocks along the perimeter of the interior of the box if you see in the construction pictures.

    • I was out last nite----7 inches of ice
    • Man wouldn't I love to have a nice F100!   Years ago had a PU from Ford with that rock solid, dependable straight six! What a piece of work. I traded if off and the fella I traded it to did the same and it went through a bunch of owners. And the last time I saw the carcass of the thing it rigged to big saw (24" blade) and was being used to cut firewood and slabs for cabins. Hell, it may still be running!!
    • Just enough ice to get away from the in-laws.
    • Have you tied it using low power?
    • The proview is a POS. To start off..you can't control the cone angle for dump. Turning the gain up to get a wider cone angle makes the lure signal and other signals huge blobs. Even when the gain is turned to the lowest setting, the proview never narrows to a 9*

So in shallow water when a guy wants a wide bean and sharp signal returns the proview is a blobby POS. Because the gain needs to be high to get the wider beam.

In 30ft of water where you want a narrow beam to keep your buddies lure off your display the proview never gets narrow enough turned all the way down.

With a tri beam you can fine tune everything 1,000% better.

I had a unit with a tri beam next to a unit with the pro view.........that night we were sending the pro view in for an exchange to get the tri beam
