Coldtrack
Nephew Ricky, Brian and myself went to the Red River in Drayton, ND. for a few days of catfishing. Had a great time. Caught many in the 10-15 range, largest 18, never broke the 20 mark. Rick, 556LaGue and eyeguy 54

556LaGue
NICE CATS GUYS! I've been planning a trip up there myself. Looks like you had a great time and hope we have a similar experience!
Coldtrack
Would wait for the river to go down...fishing was tough and everyone we talked to was struggling to find fish because of the high water, we were actually able to take the boat around the dam because the water was so high!!! 556LaGue
You guys seemed to do ok but that's what I'm thinking myself. Bite slowed for us south of there a couple hrs with the high water too. Was guessing the story was the same up n down the red. This weather needs to make its mind up. You fish up there a lot? When does the spawn happen?? Coldtrack
My first trip, would guess as soon as the river drops the spawn will begin. Rick
aanderud
The red is my favorite river for channel cats. I've only fished grand forks once, and it was a long time ago. Been to lockport 5 times since, and I tell ya, you guys have a GREAT fishery up there in that river. Keep the reports coming, always fun to see how things are going. I'll be heading back to lockport/selkirk here in late August for the later-summer bite, but I've heard pre-spawn like right around now can be LIGHTS OUT as well.
