Hey guys.

I am hosting a catfish tournement this Friday night on the MN river. If you are interested let me know. All proceeds go to American Cancer Society.

Rules & Regulations

Date & Time: June 19th 7:00pm to June 20th 6:00am

Where: Minnesota River

Boundaries: Belle Plaine landing to 35W bridge (near Black Dog)

Entry Fee: $25.00

You are invited to join us for the 2nd annual “Catfishing for Cancer” event! There will be a $25.00 entry fee, 100% of the entry fee will be donated to the American Cancer Society, Shakopee Relay for Life. This event is catch and release. All fishing parties (min. 2 persons) must bring their own digital camera and tape measure for verification purposes. There will be a control item that will be handed out at the kick-off meeting. A picture of the fish with the control item, along with measurements of length and girth needs to be recorded and submitted to Tony Tieben by 6:30am. (Bring your digital camera/cord/memory card, and we will download it.) Also, all Entrants must have a valid fishing license and abide by the 2009 MN fishing regulations!

Prizes will be awarded for the 4 largest Catfish, and the largest Channel Catfish. There will also be a grip load of door prizes. Fishing will end at 6:00 a.m. and breakfast will be provided following the event at the Shakopee landing.

Also you can pre-register at Arnies Bar in Shakopee tonight from 6:30-8:30 pm where you will recieve a control item. A cell phone number will be required if you pre-register. A mass text will be sent out friday night about 6:30pm, at which time you will be given a number code to "activate" your control item that needs to be written on the control item.

This notice is 11th hour for some but I hope we get a few of you catters to join.

Its per person Dtro, yea it might be alittle steep but its all donation, and good cause. If you want to give more be my guest. Last years 1st annual raised $800. We have already topped that with our beer bust for the event. We have a number of prizes as well, most if not all should receive some prize.

And as far as going out solo that is fine as well as long as you get a decent photo with you and the fish/control item.

Man, I would go but my wife is working evening shift and I can't make it. Maybe if the kid hadn't come home sick from daycare today I could take him somewhere but I'm going to be busy as it is.

Good luck everyone.

To be honest, I know that John and Brian both need a slumpbuster, and I didn’t want to catch it for them, so I secretly just tossed my line out and pretended to be fishing.

I was even nice enough to let them beat me at poker all night. You know I must be in a good mood when I do that, I take my poker seriously. smile

Even in doing that, Brian still had to find out he had a fish on only because we decided to move spots and he was forced to reel in.

I mean come on, fishing without bait AND letting you win at poker isn’t enough, now I have to reel it in for you?

[\end sarcasm]

Shack, there will be a base camp again this year, for those people that do not have a boat or just want to fish from shore with a larger group. It was a awesome time last year at base camp. Not as many fish as those who moved from spot to spot in a boat, but we still caught fish. If you are interested there will be a boat at Shakopee landing that will take people to and from base camp.

Thanks.

I am thinking you meant kids stuff?

We have not had any kids yet. I think there is a door prize or two that is for kids, though.

    • Good season Wild, onto next year. Should be some changes but I don't expect us to do anything crazy. Need to sign Granlund and Nino and that will use up a lot of our cap space. Can't afford Hanzel and possibly Haula and Vegas will be taking a player off our hands. I'm more interested to see who can sustain or step up their scoring next year or if anyone regresses. Granlund, Coyle, Nino, Zucker, Dumba, Spurgeon and Brodin all had career years, those are good problems to have. They showed us a lot but I think they still have room to grow and that is what we need. We have a nice cast of vets but they are likely too old to lead us to a cup, they would be in more supporting rolls. Hopefully our now seasoned young core and continue to build on their impressive seasons. Always disappointing to lose, even worse when you can't score against your old coach but I like the our team and hopefully we can keep getting better.
    • I'm not the most techy 40yr old out there, so I will try to explain what I'm looking to do and hopefully someone can point me in the direction I need to go. I have a cabin in the Chippawa National Forrest, no phone at the cabin and our cell phones dont work at the cabin either. My teenage son wants to take the wheeler and go riding alone. I worry he's going to get lost or if the wheeler breaks down he can't call my cell for help. When we drive my truck around; the gps in it works all the time.  I know I can put a GPS app on my sons phone so he can track his route in reverse to get back to the cabin. But what if he breaks down?  Does anyone know if there is a gps app that I could "pair" up me and my son's phone so I can see where he is at? kill 2 birds with one stone per say, he can use it to navigate himself on the wheeler and I can see where he's at incase I need to rescue him.  Thanks for the help.
    • Hit the Red River over the weekend for the 2nd time this spring. First outing wasn't great with a handful of smaller cats all under 10lbs. This weekend was a different story as we ended up with 15 cats Friday night. 5 over 10lbs, 2 of which were high teens fish. All caught on cut river bait.  Cats were on the shallow side of the river. Water was high and flowing pretty good. All fish were caught and released. Great night of fishin w no bugs to bother us and very nice weather! Gonna give it another whirl soon in a boat this time. Have a look!!
    • I've never tried my booya poppin pad crashers Yet but are they really bad or just not as good? Just wondering.
    • Well, I got the bow out today and it took about a dozen shots to get it sighted in then I shot this group at 30 yards.    I am impressed with this CB. The trigger is really thing that I'm not impressed with but I have nothing to compare it to. It seems like there is 40 acres of creep before it releases.
    • Ya I don't know do I dare say I almost like it better than deer hunting... Cant sit with him tonight but came up with a game plan wouldn't be surprised if he sticks one tonight
    • I am still hunting yet Moose. I go to Nebraska in a few weeks. I am archery in mn. starting to see more active birds. Going to wait and shoot a tom. Nice having 4 birds already on the team. How does a guy post pictures right from your cell phone to here so I can post Dillons info on his tom.
    • Went out today in the metro areas without any luck. Didn't even see any ramps in the usual spots, and I thought they were earlier than the morels.
