Battery Question

I will be traveling to the BWCA this fall and plan on taking a 50D and looking for a way to charge the batteries.

Can the battery be charged through the USB cord with a solar charger? In looking at Canon's site, the only way to charge the battery is by plug in and right now, I'm not able to find a compatible solar charger. I realize my other option will be taking lots of spare batteries.

The 50D happens to have excellent battery life. I personally wouldn't worry about it. I've shot for a couple of weeks with two batteries in a grip without even worry. A couple of thousand photos without a ton of chimping should be no problem.

If you are looking for spare battery's Sterling Tek is the preferred replacement for most folks.

Right on, Dan. I spent a month on the Albany River with a 10D and used 3 batteries.
