When can I power rake?

My yard looks like he!! from the voles to winter spots,I need to do something and I am not going to hand rake, to old for that. What about a Estate rake any one use one before? Right now I am looking at renting a power dethatcher to use this weekend.

With how dry the spring has been around the cities, I wouldn't be TOO afraid to power rake.

Usually it shouldn't be done in the spring, because you'll cause too much damage, but it's so dry right now (unless you have copious amounts of shade) that you should be okay.

Just don't put pre emergent down before hand.

I did mine this past weekend and it was dry. I just use the one with the tines, that you pull behind the riding mower.

Yea its definetely dry enough. Like LM2 said just go easy on it and make sure its the thatch your pulling out.

I did mine last night, but im in southern mn. It was plenty dry and made the lawn look 400% better. now all i need is rain. its TOO dry!
