Try this link to the 2008 regulations on the DNR HSOforum. If you look at the section on fishing licenses you will notice in the top line of the box (the heading for the table) that shows the prices of all the licenses and stamps that it is marked as updated with new info since it was printed (the arrow on the right side) and it says they are good from March 1st 2008 - April 30th 2009.

I actually emailed the dnr to get an "official reply" to see if my trout fishin buddies and I could save a few bucks on opener this year, here is the reply I received:

It's true that your 2008 fishing license and trout stamp are valid through April 30, 2009. You 2009 angling license and trout stamp will be valid from March 1, 2009 through April 30, 2010. They are now valid for 14 months.

Hey Guys,

I was wondering the same thing and so I sent an email to the fine folks at the DNR. Here is the response that I got back from Suellen Rau, Supervisor of the Information Center of the DNR.
