Nice quillback. I have yet to get one of those guys. And is that a bigmouth buff?

It is a Bigmouth.

Also it is a Carpsucker but imposiible to tell if it is a Quillback Or River Carpsucker.

The Carpsuckers have incredible eye sight and even from a bridge 20 feet up the spook when they see you!

The rod is a Medium/Light St. Croix which was hand made. I know the guy who made it and I bought it at a charity silent auction. The handle is cocobolo wood from Central America. It looks good, feels good, and catches fish good! grin Roughfish deserve nice rods too!

If your talking about my second picture... its because we found it laying in the woods next to the creek. Apparently someone shot it with the bow and left it there. I knew it wasn't a carp and we couldn't decide what it was.

Edit- Just looked back at the first picture and noticed the fish does appear to have blood on it. I don't recall ever seeing that, but it was during so spawn so possibly it got roughed up??

today we took a road trip to brekenridge to fish the red river for channel cats. but the current was way to strong with all the rain, and even our 5oz weights were rolling. i caught the only thing, which was a little boys sandle. he was fishing on a peir with his family and he lost it. i followed it downstream, and lucily it got caught in a bunch of wood on the bridge girder. i dangled off the bridge for 30 minutes until i finally snagged it and brought it up. the boy was very happy for sure. lol. he even gave me a little hug on my leg when we left

we went to fish fergus. i was sight fishing for smallies. i was tossing my jig to smallies when i seen a "carp" feeding. i pitched a jig out to it, and FISH ON!

turned out it wasnt a carp at all! it was quite a fight on the UL. i jumped down from the bridge so i could fight it a little better. new PB silver redhorse baby!

afterward i was tossing a jig in the current and pulling it away from tiny smallmouths, when a little big mouth buff flew up! it eyed my jig then swam off! DANG! almost a new life lister =[

eventually i gave up sight fishing, and started bottom fishing

after that one, i got a HUGE hit, the fish yanked my rod from its hold in the rocks, even though the bait feeder was engaged!

i set, the hook. and the rod bent double, i have never had a fish bend that rod so far. then after about 10 seconds. it broke the 12lb leader i had on like nothing! i wish i had seen it!

i kept on fishing and got what i beleive is a large shorthead. but it doesnt have the red fins. but it has the dorsal fin of a shorthead
